Terms of Service

By accessing or using GameNights ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and GameNights. Please read them carefully before using the Service.

GameNights is a social platform for tracking board game sessions, statistics, and social activity within private groups. The Service allows you to:

• Create and join groups to track games with friends and other players
• Record game sessions, participants, winners, and scores
• View leaderboards, statistics, and personal performance data
• Participate in competitive features such as tournaments and leagues
• Upload and share content related to your game sessions, including photos, notes, and other media
• Schedule game nights, coordinate attendance, and manage group activities
• Earn achievements, badges, and other forms of recognition based on your activity

We are continuously developing and improving the Service. Features may be added, modified, or removed over time. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate significant changes, but the availability of any particular feature is not guaranteed.

To use the Service, you must create an account. When creating an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information
• Keep your account information up to date
• Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials and not share them with others
• Accept responsibility for all activity under your account
• Maintain only one account per person

You must notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account or any other security breach. We are not liable for any loss arising from unauthorized use of your account.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use GameNights. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

If you are between the ages of 13 and 18, you represent that you have obtained the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use the Service, and that your parent or guardian has read and agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

GameNights offers both free and paid features. The free tier includes core functionality for tracking game sessions, viewing statistics, and participating in groups.

Paid Features

Certain advanced features may require a paid subscription or one-time purchase. Specific features, pricing, and terms for paid offerings are described on our pricing page and may change over time. Any changes to pricing will not affect active subscription periods you have already paid for.

Cancellation and Downgrade

You may cancel a paid subscription at any time. Upon cancellation or downgrade, your data is preserved. Access to paid features will be limited, but your history and content remain intact. You may upgrade again at any time to restore full access.

Refunds

Refund eligibility depends on the type of purchase and applicable law. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, please contact us through our contact page.

Ownership and Roles

The person who creates a group is the group owner and has full administrative rights, including the ability to promote members to admin, remove members, manage group settings, and delete the group. Admins have elevated permissions as delegated by the owner.

When an Owner Leaves or Deletes Their Account

If a group owner deletes their account or otherwise leaves the group, ownership automatically transfers to the longest-standing admin. If there are no admins, ownership transfers to the longest-standing member. If there are no remaining members, the group and its associated data are deleted.

Data Visibility Within Groups

When you join a group, your display name, game participation, statistics, and other activity within that group are visible to other members. If you leave a group, your historical game logs remain as part of the group's record (attributed to your display name at the time of participation), but you no longer appear in active leaderboards or rankings. You may request deletion of your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

You retain ownership of content you create. Your game logs, photos, notes, and other content you submit through the Service belong to you.

By submitting content to the Service, you grant GameNights a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service. This license ends when you delete your content or your account, subject to reasonable backup and deletion timelines described in our Privacy Policy.

• We display: Your content within the Service to you and to members of groups you participate in, or to other users where you have opted in to public visibility
• We do not: Sell, license, or distribute your content outside the Service for commercial purposes
• You can: Delete your content at any time, or request a copy of your data

Content Standards

All content you upload or create must comply with these Terms. You must have the legal right to share any content you submit. Do not upload content that is:

• Illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
• Sexually explicit, violent, or depicting illegal activities
• Infringing on the intellectual property rights of others, including copyrighted material you do not have permission to use
• Spam, advertising, or promotional material not authorized by GameNights

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these standards or is otherwise inappropriate, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.

Fair Play

GameNights may offer competitive features such as tournaments, leagues, brackets, and ranked leaderboards. Results logged through these features should accurately reflect actual games played. You agree not to manipulate results, collude with other participants, create fraudulent matches, or otherwise undermine the integrity of competitive features.

Disputes

Disputes about game outcomes or competitive results should be resolved within your group. GameNights provides tracking and organizational tools, but does not adjudicate disagreements about game results. Group owners and admins have authority over competitive results and standings within their groups.

By using the Service, you agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Harass, abuse, threaten, intimidate, or harm other users in any way
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other user accounts, or any systems or networks connected to the Service
• Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable burden on the Service or its infrastructure
• Create multiple accounts for abusive, deceptive, or fraudulent purposes
• Impersonate other users or misrepresent your identity
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to collect user data or content from the Service without our express written permission
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Use the Service to distribute malware, viruses, or other harmful code

GameNights and its original content, features, functionality, design, and branding are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our intellectual property without our express written permission.

Board game names, images, logos, and related intellectual property belong to their respective publishers and rights holders. GameNights is an independent tracking and social platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any board game publisher.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, engage in conduct that we determine in our sole discretion to be harmful to other users, the Service, or our interests, or for any other reason with reasonable notice.

For minor violations, we will make reasonable efforts to warn you before taking action. Serious violations — including but not limited to harassment, illegal activity, fraud, or repeated abuse — may result in immediate suspension or termination without prior notice.

You may request the deletion of your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Upon receiving a deletion request:

• Your account and personal data will be removed within 30 days
• Copies in backup systems will be purged within 90 days
• Historical game logs in groups you participated in are retained as part of the group's record, but are anonymized and no longer linked to your identity
• Some anonymized, aggregate data may be retained indefinitely for analytics and service improvement purposes

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. If you wish to use the Service again after deletion, you will need to create a new account.

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected. We do not warrant the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content or data available through the Service.

We're a small team building something we care about. Sometimes things break — when they do, we'll work to fix them as quickly as we can.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GameNights and its owners, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, regardless of the theory of liability.

Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty dollars ($50), whichever is greater.

In plain terms: we're not responsible for disputes about who really won that game of Catan.

If you have a dispute with GameNights, we encourage you to contact us first through our contact page so we can try to resolve it informally.

Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the courts located in the United States for the resolution of any such disputes.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes that materially affect your rights or obligations, we will provide prominent notice through the Service or by email.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree with any changes, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.
